Bluebells adding colour and joy to Oakfield Wood

Welcome to our third newsletter now we are nearly at the end of April! Despite the insistent wind and cold temperatures, nature is continuing to spring to life around us all. What a delight it is to see blossom on the trees, new leaves, and smell the delicious aroma of cow parsley that lines many of our favourite nature trails.

The Bluebells are still being shy but giving us the promise of their beautiful blue carpet in the woods as we move into warmer May weather.

All this beauty, that is attracting so many visitors to our stunning nature walks, does emphasise the issue that there are no designated public amenities in the village or surrounding area. To have somewhere that is not only accessible but within the keeping of the beauty that attracts these walkers, really does highlight that we still have a long way to go. The plans for the Visitor Centre would be one, very important and welcome way we could address this.

This is why it is so important to keep our fundraising efforts high, as not only will this be of huge benefit to those coming to pay their respects and to say goodbye to loved ones, but also to those that appreciate and wish to support the beauty of the setting and its surrounding area.

We would welcome your thoughts and suggestions on this issue so we can consider the best possible options that would serve not only the Visitor Centre, but also those who wish to support and enjoy the surrounding area. Please feel free to use the comments box below to submit your suggestions.

We would still very much welcome any personal stories you wish to share about loved ones who are residing at Oakfield and, to help with this, there will soon be a link on the website that will take you to a Remembrance page where you can post your memories.

Meanwhile, keep looking for signs of spring, in the village we have had recent sightings of Marshfield Harriers which can only mean that better times are ahead!

Please also visit the link below or scan the QR Code to make a donation, we appreciate very much any amount you feel able to give.
